Description
Morningside Cottage, including the street nameplate, Rose Cottage, and Seaside Cottage, is a row of three houses built in the mid-19th century. Constructed from limestone rubble, partly roughcast, they feature a slate roof and have a double-depth plan. The buildings are two storeys high, with gable walls that each have four window ranges. The northern gable has 20th-century casements with plain reveals, while the southern gable features glazing bar sashes, except for the third window on the first floor, which is narrow and has a fixed light. Below this window is a lean-to glazed porch. The ridge of the roof is adorned with four chimneys. The east wall faces the railway, and the west wall faces Cart Lane, containing openings with plain reveals. Near the northern end of the west wall, there is an attached cast-iron nameplate inscribed 'CART LANE' and, in smaller letters, 'BRIGGS BARROW 1883'.
