Description
Yew Tree Farmhouse and Yew Tree House are two houses located in Grange-over-Sands, likely built around 1740 and later altered. The buildings are pebbledashed with a slate roof and consist of two storeys plus an attic. The main house features a three-window range with 20th-century casement windows set in painted stone surrounds that resemble 19th-century designs, showcasing prominent tooling, a chamfer, and an outer narrow hollow chamfer. Above the three bays, there is a mid-20th-century flat-roofed attic dormer. A central 20th-century glass porch shelters a moulded doorway, which has a lintel inscribed '1740'. The right-hand house has a two-window range with similar windows and surrounds, except for the left-hand bay on the ground floor, which features a 20th-century casement with plain reveals and a glazed porch to its left. Above this bay, there is also a flat-roofed attic dormer. The houses have chimneys located on the left-hand gable and between them.
Inside the main house, there are chamfered main ceiling beams, an oak dogleg stair with a handrail (though the balusters have been removed), and a re-set spice cupboard door with a raised and fielded panel.
