Description
Allithwaite Lodge is a house located on Flookburgh Road in Lower Allithwaite, dating from the early 19th century. It features a datestone that reads "J M/1721". The building is constructed of roughcast stone on a rubble base, with ashlar dressings and a slate roof that has tile ridges. It is two storeys high and has three bays. The first floor has a sill band, a top frieze, and a bracketed cornice, along with quoins. The windows are sashed with glazing bars, including tripartite windows in the first and third bays. The entrance boasts a half-glazed door and a porch supported by Doric columns, with three steps leading up to it. The porch also features a frieze with the datestone and a cornice with a coped parapet. There are three large chimney stacks. The left side of the building has three blind windows with pointed sashes, while the right side includes a flat-roofed projection, a blind window, and a late 19th-century stair window. At the rear, there is a large two-storey canted bay with a hipped roof and sashed windows, along with arched recesses at the base. Inside, the hall features a round arch supported by paired Doric columns.
