Description
Signpost Cottage is an 18th-century cottage constructed from rendered stone and cob, topped with a thatched roof featuring gable ends. The building has two lateral brick stacks at the rear and a two-room layout, with direct entry into the right-hand room and a staircase located on the right side of the left room. A former outbuilding has been converted to become part of the dwelling, positioned at a right angle to the left end and extending to the rear, creating an overall L-shaped plan. The cottage is two storeys high and has a two-window range, with 2-light casements featuring six panes per light on each floor, flanking a plank door that leads to a porch with a thatched roof. There is a 20th-century extension at the rear. The internal joinery from the 19th century remains largely intact, and the roof structure from the 18th century includes waney common rafters and pegged trusses.
