Description
Lower Rollestone Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the 18th century. It is constructed of rendered stone and cob, topped with a thatch roof featuring brick stacks at the gable ends. The building has an overall L-shaped plan, with the front range consisting of a single room on each side of a lobby entry, and a service wing extending at right angles from the rear left end.
The farmhouse is two storeys high and has a three-window range featuring 19th and 20th century fenestration. There are two-light casements with six panes per light above a three-light casement to the left, and two-light casements with eight panes per light to the right of the porch, which has a cambered timber lintel and a four-panelled inner door with glazed upper panels.
At the right gable end, there is an outshut with a 20-paned hornless sash window. The porch has a slate pentice roof and a plank door on the left side of the rear service wing. The service wing has been extended at the gable end by a single-storey kitchen addition, which also has a slate roof and a brick stack at its gable end. The interior of the farmhouse is not accessible.
