Description

Newbridge Cottage is a house dating from the 18th century, with subsequent refurbishment and extension in the early 19th century. It is built of colourwashed rendered cob with slate roofs, featuring brick stacks at each end and two central axial stacks, the originals being at the ends. The house has a symmetrical plan, with the end bays slightly recessed. It is two storeys high and has a five-window front. All the windows date from the early to mid-19th century and are Gothick 2-light casements with Y-shaped glazing bars; the upper storey has six panes per light, and the ground floor has eight. A four-panelled door is centrally placed, protected by an ornate wooden porch with a pointed arch and latticed tracery to the spandrels and sides, as well as a lozenged frieze. A similar porch is located at the left gable end. A two-storey outshut extends along the rear of the house, with a small single-storey lean-to bearing a corrugated roof towards the right end.
