Description
Church Close is a 18th-century cottage located in Poltimore. It is constructed of cob with a stone plinth and is rendered beneath a thatched roof with gabled ends. The cottage features a large internal stack on the left side, made of either cob or stone, and a right-hand end stack with a 19th-century brick shaft that has been further extended.
The building is two storeys high and has a front elevation with two windows on the upper floor, which are two-light windows positioned under eyebrow eaves, with boarded gables. The ground floor has two windows that are also two-light with three panes per light, set beneath Tudor-style square-headed hood moulds with labels. A central door is located under a gabled canopy that is supported by shaped brackets.
At the rear, which faces the churchyard, there is a timber porch that is accessed by external steps, along with 20th-century metal casement windows.
