Description
The Old Post Office is a cottage located in The Square, Chittlehampton. It likely dates from the 17th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. The building features painted rendered stone rubble and cob, topped with an asbestos slate roof. There is a rendered stack on the left gable, which has a tapered cap heightened in brick, along with a bread oven projection that is capped with slate. The layout probably consists of a single room to the left of the entrance passage, with a continuous outshut at the rear. The cottage is two storeys high and has a two-window range. The early 20th-century windows are 2-light casements with three panes per light. On the ground floor, there is a three-light casement with three panes per light to the left of a gabled porch roof, which is adorned with fishscale patterned tiles. The porch features a four-panelled door, with the upper two panels being glazed. The interior has not been inspected.
