Description
Chittlehampton Post Office and Post Office Cottage is a pair of adjoining cottages, with the right-hand cottage converted into the village post office. They were built around 1860-1870 and are made of rendered stone rubble with a slate roof featuring gable end brick stacks and crested ridge tiles. The layout consists of two single-room plan cottages; the left cottage retains an entrance passage and has a slated rear outshut, while the right cottage has been converted into a shop and includes a two-storey gable-ended extension from the late 19th century at the rear.
Post Office Cottage has a two-window arrangement with 19th-century two-light casements, each with three panes per light, situated above a three-light casement with three panes per light to the left of a four-panelled door, where the upper panels are partly glazed. The Post Office to the right features a large three-light window with three panes per light above a 20th-century four-light window to the left of the doorway.
