Description

This is an anonymous footstone located approximately 5 metres west of the west tower of the Church of St. Peter ad Vincula in Combe Martin. It dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century and is made of slate. The footstone has a straight head and features urns on either side of a depiction of a hand holding a knife to a felled tree. It is inscribed with the verse: "Marvel not you stander by As you be now once was I As I be now so must you be Prepare for death and follow me."
