Description
This field gate, located approximately 250 metres south of Nymet Barton Farmhouse, dates from the mid-19th century and was made by J Wright of Sandford. It is constructed from cast and wrought iron and serves as the entrance to the driveway of the farmhouse. The gate is supported by a thin, plain iron post with a circular section. It features a two-bay design with horizontal rails also of circular section. Each bay includes straight cross braces adorned with large circular bosses at the center, which display Tudor rose motifs surrounded by the inscription 'Jas.Wright, Sandford'. The end stiles extend onto the top rail, forming ornamental scrolls, and the central upright is topped with the remains of a fleur-de-lys on bifurcated scrolls.
