Description

Langford Cross is a wayside cross dating from the 15th century, featuring a 20th-century head and arms, and set on a 20th-century base. Made of granite, the Latin cross stands approximately 2.5 meters high and faces north. It has a 20th-century octagonal plinth. The socket stone is square at the base with corner shoulders and becomes octagonal above, topped with a chamfered edge. The original shaft is slightly tapering, square at the base, with chamfered edges above and small cushion stops. It is said that the shaft was discovered in Bow Village, where it had been used in a pavement.
