Description

Hillside is a cottage that likely dates back to the 17th century. It is constructed of plastered cob on rubble footings, with a cob or stone rubble stack that is topped with 20th-century brick, and features a thatched roof. The house has a one-room and entrance lobby layout, facing north with the stack located at the right (west) end. It may have been built alongside the adjoining Richmond Cottage. The front of the cottage has an irregular arrangement of two windows, which include late 19th-century and 20th-century casements with glazing bars. There is a four-panel door with an overlight at the left end. The interior has not been inspected, but like the adjoining Richmond Cottage, it likely contains features from the 17th century.
