Description
Dowrich Cottage is a building that dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century and was originally two cottages, now converted into a single house. It is constructed of plastered cob or rubble with rubble stacks topped with 19th-century brick, and it has a slate roof. The building has two storeys and features a front that includes five windows, primarily late 19th and 20th-century casements with glazing bars. The larger cottage on the left (northeast) has large lateral stacks projecting to the rear, while the smaller cottage has a right end stack.
On the first floor, there are two early 19th-century three-light casements with original leaded glass; the left end window has an early 20th-century central casement, while the one to the right of centre features an iron casement. The left door is accompanied by a 20th-century glass-sided porch. The rear elevation includes three-light casements on both the ground and first floors, some of which have patterned leaded glass. Inside, the carpentry details are plain.
