Description

Bramblings Cottage is a small, probably early 19th-century cottage located in Sandford, Aller Down. It is constructed with plastered cob on rubble footings, with a cob or rubble stack topped with 20th-century brick and a thatched roof. The cottage originally comprised a single room, double in depth, facing east, with a stack projecting from the left (south) end. A rear room, situated beneath a slate-roofed extension following the main roof pitch, is likely a secondary addition. The cottage has two storeys. The front elevation features a single window containing 20th-century casements with glazing bars, with an eyebrow of thatch above the upper window. The roof is hipped to the right and gabled to the left. The left end of the cottage incorporates a door and a 19th-century gabled porch with a slate roof, crested ridge tiles, 20th-century casements with glazing bars, and a large oven projection.
