Description
Sturridge Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates back to the 16th century, with improvements made in the 17th century and significant rebuilding in the late 19th century. It is constructed of plastered cob on rubble footings, with rubble stacks topped by late 19th-century brick, and has a corrugated asbestos roof that was formerly thatch. The building is gable-ended and features a three-room layout with a through passage, facing south, and an inner room at the right (east) end. There are end stacks and a lateral stack that projects to the front of the hall. The farmhouse has two storeys and a regular four-window front, which consists of late 19th-century casements of various sizes, all with glazing bars. The passage door is located immediately to the left of the hall stack, which appears to have its original chimney shaft, now plastered and topped with late 19th-century brick. The interior mostly contains late 19th-century and 20th-century fittings and plasterwork, while many earlier features are likely concealed on the ground floor. It is noted that the roof was replaced in the late 19th century following a fire.
