Description
The front wall and gate posts between Town Barton and Barton Court date from the late 16th to early 17th century, with rebuilding occurring in the early to mid-19th century. The structure features a combination of rubble and cob, with volcanic and granite ashlar piers. The high wall surrounding the courtyard has a central gateway. The wall to the left of the gateway leading to Barton Court is made of cob on rubble footings and has a pitched slate roof. The wall to the right of the gateway, which leads to Town Barton, is constructed from roughly squared rubble with rounded coping. The gate piers are square-sectioned volcanic ashlar on slightly projecting pedestals, topped with flattened pyramid granite caps.
