Description
Star House is a house built in the first half of the 19th century. It features plastered cob on rubble footings, with rubble stacks topped by 19th-century brick and a slate roof. The house is a two-room double-depth structure facing northeast and has rear and right (northwest) stacks. It is two storeys high with a symmetrical front that has three windows, each containing 12-pane sashes that are hornless and include some old glass, except for the right-hand ground floor window. The central entrance consists of a 20th-century four-panel door with an overlight featuring glazing bars and panelled reveals. A gabled porch with octagonal section posts, which have plain caps, leads to the entrance and has a flat arched valance. The granite threshold is designed to rise on each side, serving as pedestals for the porch posts. The house has deep eaves supported by pairs of shaped brackets, and the roof is hipped at both the front and back. Inside, some original joinery and plasterwork remain.
