Description
Wayside Cottage is a house that likely dates from the late 18th century to the early 19th century. It is constructed of plastered cob on rubble footings, with a stone rubble stack topped with 20th-century brick and a thatched roof. The house has a three-room plan and faces southeast. The center and left rooms are served by an axial stack with back-to-back fireplaces. It is two storeys high and features an irregular four-window front with various 20th-century casements, all of which have glazing bars. To the right of the center, there is a late 19th-century four-panel door with a 20th-century hipped porch that has a thatched roof supported by plain timber posts. The roof is hipped at both ends. Inside, the cottage has plain carpentry details, and none of the rooms have main beams. The stone rubble fireplaces have plain oak lintels, although the roof has not been inspected.
