Description
The Mill is a house located in Shobrooke, likely dating from the 18th century, with additions from the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of roughcast cob on rubble footings, featuring cob or stone stacks topped with brick, and a thatched roof, with a slate roof on the rear outshut. The building is two stories high and has a three-room ground plan. There is an axial stack to the right of the center and a projecting gable stack to the left. The rear outshuts to the northeast are mostly later additions, although a large kitchen stack projecting from the left end wall is likely from the 18th century. The front has four windows, which are 19th or 20th century timber frames with three lights per frame, each having three panes. The main door is located to the left of center, beneath an open porch with a slate roof supported by curved brackets. To the right on the ground floor is a 20th-century glazed door. Inside, the ground floor features plain chamfered beams. The roof has not been inspected.
