Description
Burrowland Cottage is a small farmhouse with an adjoining byre and loft, now serving as a house. It likely dates from the 18th century and features plastered cob on rubble footings, with cob or rubble stacks topped with 20th-century brick and a thatched roof. Originally, it was a two-room house with a central passage facing southwest, with the byre and hayloft located at the left (northwest) end. The original door has been blocked and replaced by a window, while the current door to the former byre is located towards the left end. There is an axial stack to the left of center and a rear lateral stack to the right of center. The cottage has two storeys and a four-window front, featuring 20th-century casements and a 20th-century door with a hood towards the left end. The roof is hipped to the left and half-hipped to the right. Inside, the right passage screen has been removed, and the house has been modernized, with plain carpentry details throughout.
