Description

This milestone, located in Chawleigh, dates from the early 19th century and is made of granite. It stands approximately 1 metre high and has a flat top with a triangular shape and chamfered edges. The front sides are angled forward and feature inscriptions in Roman serif capitals, along with both Roman and Arabic numerals. The left side reads "TO EXON 20 MILES," while the right side states "TO BARUM XX MILES," indicating it is the halfway point between Exeter and Barnstaple.
