Description
Homeland Bridge is a disused road bridge over the River Taw, likely built in the 18th century. It is constructed from local mudstone, with roughly cut blocks laid in courses that become neater and more ashlar-like towards the bottom. The bridge features three spans, consisting of two main segmental arches and a narrow round-headed arch on the western side. All arches have plain vaults with simple voussoirs. Only the starling between the two main arches has cutwaters that extend up to road level, while the other starling is flat-fronted. The road leading to the bridge is now in a dilapidated state, and there is a 20th-century parapet made of tubular steel rails set into concrete. The road ramps up to the bridge at the eastern end.
