Description
This is a milestone located in Zeal Monachorum, dating from the late 18th century. It is made of granite and takes the form of a thin upright slab with a flat top, standing approximately 1 metre high. The front of the milestone is slightly tilted forward, and each face features inscriptions in upper and lower case letters, each set within an inscribed arcade. The left side reads "15 Miles Exeter," while the right side states "19 Miles Torrington." This milestone is noted for being unusually early.
