Description
This linhay, located approximately 2.5 metres north of Rocknell Farmhouse, is likely from the mid-19th century. It is constructed from local chert stone rubble, featuring larger, more carefully-dressed quoins, and has a slate roof. The linhay has an unusual design, facing southwest towards the farmyard and backing onto the road. It is open-fronted with 10 bays, each bay featuring nearly full-height openings topped with segmental arches. Some of the openings on the ground floor, which serve as a cow byre and tallet or hayloft, now have plain plank doors. The roof is gable-ended. Inside, the structure displays plain carpentry details, including an A-frame truss roof with nailed lap-jointed collars.
