Description

This linhay, located approximately 5 metres west of Middle Middlecott Farmhouse, is likely from the 18th century. It is constructed of granite stone rubble and features a corrugated iron roof, which was originally thatch. The linhay has an open front and consists of three bays facing east. The hayloft crossbeams are supported at the front by granite posts. Timber posts extend from the top of these crossbeams and have curving heads that are lap-jointed to the feet of the roof trusses. This structure is an example of Alcock's type S2 linhay. The roof is gable-ended, and the trusses are A-frames with pegged lap-jointed collars. The outer bays have been blocked up with granite rubble below the hayloft.
