Description

This linhay, located about 25 metres south-west of Chittleford Farmhouse on the opposite side of the road, is probably from the 17th or 18th century. It is constructed of granite rubble and has a roof covered with corrugated iron. This double linhay, which is very rare, is open on both sides and features a stone dividing wall on the ground storey. It has one storey with a loft above. The ground storey is supported by roughly-shaped granite posts on each of the long sides. The roof trusses have curved feet that are pegged to the ends of the principal rafters on each side, with collars that are pegged and nailed to their faces. The linhay is situated across the road from the farmhouse, behind the barn.
