Description

Blackslade Manor Farm and Blackslade Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates from the 17th century or earlier, with additions at the rear and a dated wing from 1869 at the front. It is constructed of granite rubble with red brick dressings on the left-hand end. The roof is slated and hipped on the left side. There are chimneystacks on the gable walls, as well as two more on the ridge—one on the rear wall and another on the gable wall of the 1869 wing.

The layout features a cross-passage with a hall and parlour to the right, and a kitchen along with two other rooms to the left. The building is two storeys high and has a six-window front. The 19th-century casements, most of which have glazing bars, are present, along with a sash window at the right-hand end of the ground storey. The three right-hand windows on the second storey and the second window from the right on the ground storey are older and have leaded panes.

A gabled stone entrance porch from the mid-19th century features shaped bargeboards. Inside, the hall includes a fireplace with a plain granite lintel in the rear wall, while the kitchen has a fireplace with monolithic granite jambs and lintel. There is also a rounded stair turret with stone steps located at the rear.
