Description
The linhay at Lowmoor Farm, dating from the early to mid 19th century, is constructed from local stone rubble and features a corrugated asbestos sheet roof with gabled ends. It has a long, 8-bay layout with an open front facing west and includes stables with a loft at the north end.
The building is two storeys high, with an 8-bay open front supported by timber posts that hold up the loft floor and eaves. On the left side, or north end, there are two doorways on the ground floor, a small window, and a loft doorway above the left doorway. The north gable end has two stable doorways and a pointed arch loft doorway, which includes pigeon-holes above it.
Inside, the structure features lapped and pegged collar trusses that cross at the apex, with the ends of the principal rafters and the plate supported on timber cantilevers.
