Description

The rear courtyard outbuildings and cob walls adjoining to the north of Collatons are service outbuildings dating from the early 19th century. They are primarily constructed of plastered cob on rubble footings, with some areas of exposed or plastered rubble, and feature slate roofs. The large rear service courtyard is enclosed by a high wall that is attached to the rear of the main block of Collatons.

The rear service block of Collatons extends into the south side, which includes a two-storey store in the southeast corner, stables on the west side, and the low rubble walls of another service room on the north side. The gable-ended store has an irregular two-window front with 19th-century casements, two roughly central doors, and, at the left (north) end, 20th-century garage doors. The right (south) gable end features a blind rectangular window recess above, designed to complement the main house front.

The gable-ended stable block has a large carriage entrance at the right (north) end, with a loading hatch above it. To the left is the stable door, which has a fan with radial glazing bars, flanked by part-glazed windows. The east and south sides, to the left of the main house, have large double gateways. The rear (north) wall includes a series of pigeon holes towards the left end. Additionally, from the rear left (north-west) corner, a high plastered cob wall with slate coping extends westwards to the rear of the front garden. All these features are included for their group value.
