Description
The courtyard range of farm buildings located immediately east of Collacott Farmhouse dates from the early to mid 19th century. It includes a cider house, stables, a bank barn, a linhay, courtyard entrance gates, and cart sheds. The buildings are constructed from stone rubble and rendered cob, with brick dressings, and feature corrugated iron roofs with gable ends.
The layout forms a three-sided courtyard, with the cider house and stables on the left (north) side, the bank barn with shippons below along the long east side parallel to Collacott Farmhouse, and the linhay with the farmyard entrance gate on the right (south) side. At the rear of the linhay, there is an attached cart shed that faces outward.
The lofted stable and cider house range has six bays with segmental brick arched openings, all of which are infilled, three of them with plank doors. There are three loft openings above. The bank barn features nine bays of segmental brick arched openings on the courtyard side, all infilled, with six having plank doors. Access to the first floor includes triple cart entrances at the rear, two of which have double plank doors, while the entrance at the left (north end) has been reduced in width to a single plank door.
The linhay consists of four bays with a timber boarded front supported by circular stone rubble and cob piers. The cart shed has four bays and is open-fronted, with timber posts supporting a lean-to roof. These farm buildings are positioned at the rear of Collacott Farmhouse and enclose a cobbled courtyard, which features a central midden at the north end, where the granary stands.
