Description

Collacott Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates back to the 17th century but was refenestrated, reroofed, and altered internally in the 19th century. It is constructed from roughcast rendered stone rubble and cob, topped with a slate roof featuring gable ends. The left end has a half-hipped slate roof over a lofted service area. There are two tall rendered lateral stacks at the rear for the hall and inner room, along with a rendered stack at the right gable end. The layout consists of three rooms and a cross-passage, with a 19th-century stair projection included in a continuous outshut at the rear, and a lofted, formerly heated service room at the left end. An additional straight-run staircase is located beside the inner room stack. Of the two rooms to the left of the cross-passage, the inner room is the larger one. The farmhouse is two storeys high and has a four-window range. The 19th-century windows feature 12-paned hornless sashes on the upper storey. The inner room has a tripartite sash with 12 panes, flanked by 4-paned sliding sidelight sashes. There are 16-paned sashes on each side of the porch, which has a cambered arched lintel and a gabled slate roof. Internal timber window seats are present on each side, and the inner door is a six-panelled design with the middle panels glazed. At the rear, there is a round-arched window in the stair projection, which has a hipped roof. The interior was entirely refashioned in the early 19th century, but most of the joinery remains intact, including eight wide-span pegged trusses from the same period.
