Description
Grattans Cottage is a late 19th-century cottage constructed of plastered brick, likely incorporating some stone rubble. It features brick stacks with plastered brick shafts and a slate roof. The cottage has a gable-ended, two-room plan with a central staircase, facing west, and end stacks. There is a 20th-century extension on the right (south) end. The building stands two storeys high and has a nearly symmetrical two-window front, which is slightly skewed to the right. The windows are round-headed casements with glazing bars, including radial patterns in the heads, with the ground floor windows being broader than those on the first floor. The central entrance features a four-panel door and a 19th-century gabled porch with a slate roof, shaped bargeboards, an apex pendant, and a round-headed outer arch. At the rear, there is a single round-headed stair window. The interior has not been inspected. This cottage is likely a gardener's cottage for the nearby Grattan Manor and is included for its group value.
