ZEAL MONACHORUM ZEAL MONACHORUM SS 70 SW 4/96 Obelisk appriximately 3 metres - south-west of Sachristan Cottage GV II

Obelisk commemorating the building of a water-pump. Date 1887. Granite. Obelisk on plain plinth, all with chamfered edges standing approximately 3 metres high. The front (west) face is inscribed in plain capitals and reads 'THIS WATER SUPPLY WAS THE JUBILEE GIFT OF RICHARD DAVY, ESQ. OF BURSTONE TO THIS VILLAGE, 1877'. The obelisk forms part of a group of listed items around the central crossroads of the village.
