Description

The obelisk, located approximately 3 metres south-west of Sacristan Cottage, commemorates the construction of a water pump and dates from 1887. It is made of granite and stands about 3 metres high on a plain plinth, both featuring chamfered edges. The front (west) face is inscribed in plain capitals, stating, "THIS WATER SUPPLY WAS THE JUBILEE GIFT OF RICHARD DAVY, ESQ. OF BURSTONE TO THIS VILLAGE, 1877." This obelisk is part of a group of listed items situated around the central crossroads of the village.
