Description
Two adjoining barns, located approximately 20 meters south of Shobrooke Barton Farmhouse, date from the late 18th century to early 19th century and mid-19th century. Both barns are constructed of cob on rubble footings and feature slate roofs, facing the farmyard to the southwest. The earlier barn, situated to the left (northwest), was reroofed at the same time the right barn was built onto its end at a slightly lower level. Each barn has large opposing double doors positioned left of center, with an additional front door to the right. The main doors are flanked by slender cob buttresses and are covered by monopitch porch roofs supported by timber brackets. The left barn includes a loading bay above the main door, which is also under the porch roof. The roofs are hipped at the outer ends, with the left barn having a 5-bay roof and the right barn a 6-bay roof. A linhay is attached to the right end of the barns, making them part of a larger planned estate farmyard.
