Description
Two adjoining small barns, likely built in the late 15th to early 16th century and 17th century, were reroofed in the 20th century. They are constructed of plastered cob on rubble footings and have a corrugated iron roof, which was formerly thatch. The barns are arranged end to end, with the earlier barn on the right side (northeast end) open to the roof, while the other barn has a floored upper hayloft. Each long front features a central straight join, and the footings on the right are built up higher than those on the left. Both barns have large central doors on the southeast front, facing Mill House. The right door is raised above ground level for unloading from carts and has a narrow 20th-century single light window to the right; the left door has a loading door above it. The roof is hipped to the left and gable-ended to the right. The roof structure is from the 20th century, but a face-pegged jointed cruck-post remains on the rear wall of the earlier barn. These barns are included for their group value.
