Description
Neopardy Bridge is a road bridge that crosses the River Yeo. It likely dates from the 18th century, though it may be older, and was widened in the 20th century. The bridge is constructed of volcanic rubble and ashlar, with a 20th-century pine parapet rail. It features three spans with plain segmental arches that have ashlar voussoirs. The square-sided abutments project from each bank, and ashlar cutwaters with slightly battered sides rise to flat tops just below the roadway. On the eastern side, the bridge looks similar but has been widened underneath, resulting in flatter segmental arches compared to the originals. The road rises slightly towards the middle. The plain railings were replaced around 1960. In 1809, James Green noted that the bridge had been widened on the south side "by layers of timber" and was in a dangerous state.
