Description

The Shobrooke War Memorial is a First World War memorial that was later updated to include names and ranks from the Second World War in 2015. It is made of granite and features a wheel-cross with Celtic-knot decoration, set on a trapezoidal plinth and a square base. The plinth has recessed panels on all sides. The front of the memorial displays a dedication in raised lettering that reads: "THIS MEMORIAL ERECTED TO THE MEMORY OF THOSE SHOBROOKE MEN WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR KING AND COUNTRY 1914 - 1918/ LEST WE FORGET." The names of those who died in the First World War are inscribed on the other sides, while the names of those who fell during the Second World War (1939-1945) are listed on the rear panel.
