Description

Holywell is a well located on Church Lane in Shobrooke. The original date of the well is unknown, but the well-head was rebuilt in 1925. It features a well-head made of volcanic stone, with a wooden door set into a hedge-bank. The entrance has a round-headed stone arch with plain imposts. The wooden plank door is fitted with wrought-iron strap-hinges that have plain fleur-de-lys finials. The well was first mentioned in parish records in 1576. The interior has not been inspected.
