Description
This is a town house built around 1880, constructed of plastered stone rubble, possibly with brick. It features stone rubble or brick stacks with plastered chimney shafts that have shaped shoulders topped with Hamstone coping, and a slate roof. The house is set back slightly from Fore Street to the south and is two rooms wide and double depth. The entrance is located in the center of the left (west) end, leading into an entrance hall that contains the main staircase. This staircase separates the two front principal rooms from the two rear service rooms, with end stacks for the rooms. The right (east) end of the house is terraced into the hillside. It has two storeys and a symmetrical two-window front featuring large 12-pane sash windows. The deep eaves are supported by a regular series of shaped brackets, and the roof is hipped at both ends. The entrance on the left end includes the original panelled door. Inside, there is a significant amount of original joinery and other details. In front of the house, a narrow strip of ground is enclosed by cast-iron spear-headed railings that are contemporary with the house. This property is part of an attractive group of listed buildings in the center of Holcombe Rogus village.
