Description

This is an early or mid-19th century house, possibly with earlier origins, located in Fore Street, Holcombe Rogus. It is constructed of plastered stone rubble, with some cob, and has stone rubble stacks topped with 19th and 20th century brick, all under a slate roof. The house has a two-room plan, facing southwest, with a central entrance hall. The room to the right has a rear lateral stack, while the room to the left has a gable-end stack. The symmetrical front has a three-window arrangement to the ground floor, featuring 16-pane sash windows (the left one has horns), and casement windows with glazing bars on the first floor. A central doorway is topped with a flat hood supported on shaped brackets. The roof is gable-ended on the left and continuous with the roof of the adjacent property on the right. The interior has not been inspected, but the house appears largely unmodernised and likely contains 19th-century joinery detail, possibly with earlier features. The property is part of an attractive group of listed buildings in the village, situated on the route to the Church of All Saints and Holcombe Court.
