Description

Broadmeadow is a house dating from around 1840. It is constructed of plastered stone rubble, possibly with brick dressings, and has stone stacks with plastered brick chimney shafts and some original chimney pots, all under a slate roof. The house was built along the street, facing north, and originally comprised two rooms with a central entrance hall and staircase. The room to the right has a gable-end stack, while the room to the left has an axial stack backing onto the staircase. A service outshot extends to the rear. The main house is two storeys high and has a roughly two-window facade. The windows are original 16-pane sashes set within low segmental arches. A late 19th-century gabled porch with shaped bargeboards protects the central doorway, which contains a six-panel door. The roof is gable-ended to the right, and to the left, it continues with the roof of Hillside House. The interior retains a significant amount of 19th-century joinery detail. Broadmeadow contributes to a notable group of listed buildings within the village.
