Description
No. 26, known as College, is a substantial detached house located on the east side of Bradninch Millway. It was built in the early 19th century and features a combination of cob and stone plinth, plastered under a thatched hipped roof. The house has an L-shaped plan and stands two storeys tall.
The front of the house has a three-window range, with an additional window on the left return. The first-floor windows are hornless sash windows, with six panes per sash and margin panes, all set beneath hood moulds. There are two doors: the older one on the right is panelled and has a trellised porch, while the other door is located in the angle formed by the wing and also features a trellised design with a tented canopy.
To the right, there is a late 19th or early 20th century square, single-storey bay with two sash windows. The house has internal stacks located at the rear and on the side elevation, with a brick shaft. The fenestration at the rear dates from the 20th century. Inside, much of the original interior remains intact, including internal panelled shutters and wooden chimney pieces.
