Description
This is a pair of red brick houses located in Lower Shapter Street, likely built in the early 18th century and exhibiting Dutch influence. The houses are two storeys high with a basement and have gabled dormers. Each house has three windows, with burnt headers and rubbed brick window heads to the brickwork. Number 1 has a later trellis porch, while Number 2 retains an 18th-century door hood supported by brackets. Some of the glazing bars have been altered, and the houses both feature six-panelled doors. The roof is hipped and slate-covered. The listed buildings of Lower Shapter Street are considered to form a cohesive group.
