Description
51 and 53 Pen Street are a pair of houses built in the early 19th century. They are constructed of red and brown brick in Flemish bond and feature pantile roofs with a single ridge stack and brick coped gables. The houses are two storeys plus attics and have a four-bay front for each house, with two bays for each unit.
Number 53 retains its original six-panel door and overlight, while number 51 has a later six-panel door. Both doors are framed by pedimented surrounds with narrow pilasters and carved brackets. Number 53 has glazing bar sash windows, with two windows in the ground floor center bays and four windows on the first floor, all featuring segmental arched brick heads. The roof includes two dormers with rendered cheeks and segmental lead roofs. The interior has not been inspected.
