Description
No. 35 Pen Street is a house built in the early 19th century. It features red brick in Flemish bond and has hipped pantile roofs, with one ridge and one tall wall stack. The building is designed in an L-shape and has three storeys.
The front facing Pen Street has a single bay with a plain sash window on each floor. The front facing Threadneedle Street has a central six-panel door with a plain overlight, set within a pedimented doorcase that includes attached Doric half-columns and a frieze. This is flanked by plain sash windows. On the first floor, to the right, there is a blocked window opening, with a similar smaller opening directly above it. To the left, there is a tall semicircular-headed stair window.
The two-storey wing has a single glazing bar sash window on each floor. The openings on Pen Street feature flat rubbed brick wedge arches, while those on Threadneedle Street have similar segmental-headed arches. The building is constructed in conjunction with Nos. 31 and 33.
