Description

This listing describes a pair of adjacent headstones located approximately 4 metres east of the chancel of the Church of St James in Talaton. The left headstone is dated 1843 and commemorates Aaron Webb, while the right headstone is dated 1838 and honors his wife, Sarah Webb, and presumably their daughter, Caroline Gullwell. Both headstones are made of slate and feature upright slabs with shaped heads. Each headstone has an urn flanked by scrolls carved into the top, with inscriptions that begin in Gothic lettering and continue in Roman serif upper and lower case lettering. Both Aaron and Sarah are noted as servants of Sir John Kennaway.
