Description
This is a pair of headstones dating from the late 18th century, located about 14 meters north of the west wall of the tower of the Church of St John the Baptist. The headstones are made of slate. The northern headstone is nowy-headed with canted corners and commemorates Thomas Chowen, who was buried in 1779. It features an elaborate initial letter in the inscription and a pot of flowers carved at the top. To the south and slightly to the west is the headstone for Elizabeth Guscott, who died in 1797. This headstone has a scrolly head, a verse below the inscription, and two cherubim carved at the top, each holding palms and a crown of glory.
