Description
Part Barton is a house built in 1853, which may be a remodelling of an earlier structure. It is constructed of stone rubble with slate roofs that are gabled at the ends, some of which are covered with asbestos slates, and features a rendered axial stack on the ridge. The building has a single depth range with a central front wing, creating a T-plan. The left-hand end of the house was previously used as a shop. It displays modest Tudor style details and is two storeys high with an asymmetrical front that has four windows. To the right of the wing, the roofline is lower and there are no windows on the front elevation. A gabled stone porch with a chamfered four-centred outer doorway is attached to the right side of the wing. The wing itself has one ground floor and one first floor window, both of which are two-light casements with four-centred arched lights and glazing bars, set under flat stone arches. To the left of the wing, there is an additional entrance below a one-light first floor four-centred arched window. A large window to the left of the door, which was formerly the shop window, features four tall narrow panes and a timber lintel. There are also two blocked openings on the first floor, positioned high under the eaves. The interior has not been inspected.
