Description

This is a row of five headstones located approximately 1 meter east of the chancel of the Church of St. John the Baptist in Upper Boddington. They date from the early 18th century and are made of limestone ashlar.

From left to right, the first headstone is dated 1720 and features a cherub with drapes at the top and an oval inscription panel. The second headstone, dated 1724, has two cherubs flanking an armorial device at the top and an open book inscription panel. The third headstone is similar to the adjacent one. The fourth headstone, dated 1709, has a cherub at the top, and the oval inscription panel contains a partially legible inscription that reads "In memory of Elizabeth wife of William Weston." The fifth headstone, dated 1707, features a segmental pediment with an urn at the top.

These headstones occupy a prominent position near the church and are included for their group value with the Church of St. John the Baptist.
